Kings and Queens 2011
360 local pensioners attended Kings and Queens on 30 July 2011
The Mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor Jane Cooper attended Kings and Queens and the afternoon began with a superb lunch, during which Grandpa's Spells entertained the guests. This was followed by the Slingshot Theatre Company singing songs from the musicals and then Ed Hopkins leading a Sing-a-Long. One of the guests commented "One of the best days I've had for years - thank you and all the people who gave up their time for us oldies". Mo Smith, Chair of Trustees said "It was intended that every single person who attended would feel 'special' and we gave them a commemorative mug and a red rose to take home with them". Another guest said "Thank you for making so many people so very happy and giving them a very special day - treated like the Queen". The event was originally the idea of local resident Grant Gigg and this year it was supported by a number of trusts and companies including Sainsbury's, the Miles Trust, Pest Houses Fund, Youngs Brewery, the Angel Pub, Roehampton Cars, Regenerate, Rise n Shine Community Transport and Wandsworth Council. There were many volunteers from the local community and Hillsong Church London - all who made it a very special occasion. Next year, we plan to celebrate the Queen's Diamond jubilee and we are looking forward to another great day. A very big thank you to all those who worked hard to make it happen.
Regenerate-RISE is launching RISE Sheffield in September 2011
We are grateful to the Sheffield Town Trust and the Evan Cornish Foundation for funding a Community Engagement Worker in Sheffield who will be working in the Nether Edge and Woodhouse areas. We will be working in partnership with the Salvation Army and are looking forward to recruiting our first employee. The aim of the first year will be to set up RISE Sheffield with the provision of lunches, activities, outings and transport.

RISE Ealing continues to grow
RISE Ealing has received 50 referrals from Social Services, families and Health professionals and is looking forward to integrating each one into the service in Northolt on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday. RISE SW15 are visiting RISE Ealing on a monthly basis as we want to encourage friendships across London and on Wednesday, 10 August RISE Ealing visited the Platt Christian Centre for lunch and participated in the afternoon activity of Bingo.
RISE stands for Reaching the ISolated Elderly and we aim to tackle isolation and social exclusion amongst the elderly across the UK using a model which has been operating in Putney and Roehampton since 2001
Our vision is to rise to the challenge to eradicate isolation across the UK
By reaching and engaging isolated older people in a range of positive activities, we hope to facilitate the rebuilding of social networks, particularly for older people who may have become isolated due to major health problems. Our hope is that we can empower the isolated elderly in our communities by supporting them to live independently and by improving their physical and mental well being we believe that together we can reduce isolation.

Regenerate-RISE currently has 10 staff (some part-time) working in SW15 and 4 staff in RISE Ealing
RISE is committed and dedicated to improving the quality of life of older people. It does not discriminate against disability, age, race, religion or gender and looks to provide a service to the whole person including their spiritual wellbeing. Activities include Art, Bingo, Computer, Entertainment, Music for All, Chair-based exercises, Quizzes, Parties, Films, Falls Clinics, Health Topics, Outings to places of interest and other Day Centres, Pub Lunches and many more. For more information about our project, please see our About us page.

Weekends
Regenerate-RISE works with Hillsong London to provide access to Christian worship at the weekends and we have a Connect Group for the 70 - 100 year olds which starts with a meal together followed by a time of Bible Study and prayer. Approximately once a month we attend Hillsong London at the Dominion Theatre in Tottenham Court Road where a congregation of 2,300 meet together and we enjoy being hosted in the boxes with tea and biscuits, whilst listening and participating in the service. Recently we attended the Hillsong Colour Conference at Wembley Arena.

Rise n Shine Cafe
Once a month on a Saturday, we hold a cafe at the Platt with a menu that includes bacon butties, salads, soup, a hot meal and a range of sweets. After lunch we have an activity which can be from watching a DVD eg Elaine Page at her concert celebrating 40 years in showbusiness to Bingo. Rise n Shine provides transport to the event and all are welcome.
